This study examined the effects of a 3-week chitin-glucan (4.5 g/day) supplementation in healthy individuals. Results indicated that chitin-glucan intake led to specific changes in gut microbiota composition, notably increasing genera such as Eubacterium, Dorea, and Roseburia. Additionally, there was an elevation in fecal bacterial metabolites, including butyric, iso-valeric, caproic, and vaccenic acids. These findings suggest that chitin-glucan can beneficially modulate gut microbiota and its metabolic outputs.
