Valibouze C, Dubuquoy C, Chavatte P, Genin M, Maquet V, Modica S, Desreumaux P, Rousseaux C. Chitin-glucan improves important pathophysiological features of irritable bowel syndrome. World Journal of Gastroenterology. 2024;30(16):2258-2271. PMID: 38690023. doi: 10.3748/wjg.v30.i16.2258.

This study demonstrates the potential of chitin-glucan, a prebiotic derived from fungal sources, in alleviating IBS symptoms. Preclinical research shows that chitin-glucan reduces visceral pain, and improves gut barrier function through key molecular pathways. Its ability to bind microbial toxins suggests an innovative treatment strategy for IBS management. These findings reinforce the role of chitin-glucan as a promising dietary intervention for gut health.
